Manually manage music and videos help !

Im using a different computer for my iPhone now as my previous one was spoilt .Whenever i try to tick the "manually manage.." box, it will ask me to erase my iPhone. Is there a way around this, to tick the box WITHOUT erasing all the data in my iPhone?
I read on the internet, they said something about a persistent ID from the previous computer, but my previous computer can't even be switched on !
Is there a solution?

Make sure that all the music on the iPhone

is also on the new computer.

Once you have established that, there is no problem in erasing the iPhone because all the data is on the computer and will be restored when you choose what it is that you want to sync
