tags not appearing until selected

after spending a while amending tags within itunes, the 'name' field does not appear to change from the filename to the id3tag, unless highlighted.

interestingly enough, artwork appears fine, as do other fields, just not the 'name' field.

any thoughts much appreciated.

AFAIK, it's the same old issue.

If you are updating such outside of iTunes, this seems to be how it works.

Hi Bob,

thanks for that, alas, simply have been tidying up the tags by using itunes, no external software or anything.

selecting a whole lot of songs and then choosing 'get info', then clicking ok, has no effect.

re-importing has no effect either.

most frustrating i must say - the only thing i can think of is to maybe use something like mp3tag and create new tags via that (unless there are any other better/easier mp3tagging software packages that can be recommended)
