Stuck on Welcome Screen ("LG Life's Good")

My LG Infinia 55LW5600 55-inch TV stopped working this morning. When I turn it on, the "welcome screen" appears and won't turn off. It just shows the LG logo, with the words "LG Life's Good" on the screen -- no buttons on the TV or remote work, except the power button. No input, no menu, no volume, etc. The welcome screen will stay on for hours without changing.

The TV is exactly a year old (I bought it Dec. 27 and it arrived Dec. 30 in 2011), so LG is saying the warranty may not be good.

Any ideas what is causing this? It seems an amazing coincidence that this occurred 366 days after Amazon shipped it, so I'm hoping someone else has had a similar glitch (with an easy fix). THANKS.

Make it a warranty issue.

Push the date to when you received the set. Not the purchase date.

LG fixed the TV

After a few phone calls, LG agreed to fix the TV. They scheduled the appointment promptly (once they agreed to fix it) and the technician was great. He had to replace the main board.

BTW, this would have been no contest in small claims court. Most side with the consumer and since you were not in possession of the set till a later date, you win. Also most makers do give some grace period on this.

Some makers offer a 3 month extension if you register the set on their web site.

Good to read it was taken care of.
