I just got a nexus 4 is there a way when messaging to do a paragraph? So to start a new line.. All I can find is the tab button but that just puts an extra space on the same line.. Thanks

There are some that are new to SMS that want to extend what it does but it's a standard with a length and other limits. It's not fun to watch them bang their head or scream why doesn't it do this!

You replace the SMS app to substitute a character. I thought you wanted to know why the stock app is that way. It appears you didn't get the message.

The problem with replacing the app would be both parties would have to agree on the solution.

Did you understand that SMS is quite old? And was not built to do much?
