LG 42LE5400 - no image on left half

Got a pretty unfortunate problem here. The other night, when I went to power on my TV (LG 42LE5400), it powered on but displayed no image on the left side of the TV. (Link is to a picture of the issue.)

Believe it or not, this is better than it was. For the past day or so, whenever you would turn on the TV, you would get a high pitched whine and the right side would be viewable but seriously distorted. The whine went away today, but half of the screen is still not viewable. Any idea on what component I need to replace in this thing? Thanks for the help! <span>

Sadly, about a year out. It was a good set. I'm a bit sad that I am looking at replacing it already. I've only had it for about 2 years.

42LE5400 Left Half Trouble

Whatever happened to your set? Were you able to repair it or did you have to replace it? Mine just did the same thing. Turned it on and was greeted with a working right half and a left half with three green vertical bars with both sides slowly washing out. I'd really appreciate the help.
