They look the same but the LM8600 has a dual core processor. The TV is faster overall. My friend has one and I own a LW5600 so I can attest that the dual core makes a difference.

LM8600 is a step up from LM7600:
voice control;
the ability to decrease the 240Hz refresh rate to 120 Hz in order to watch movies properly;
improved 2D to 3D convertion feature;
dual-core processor.

Both of these models won the German Brand innovation award tho.

Are you the kind of person who wants to have the latest product? As for me, newest doesn't necessarily equate to being the best. Sure, dual core sounds good but if you already have a computer with that processor why would you need it in your tv. $200 is $200 and you can use it for something else. If I were you I would be satisfied with the lm7600. I checked the specs and with respect to the 2d and 3d features they're the same. It also has WiFi and the same home menu.

Why do you need a smart 3d tv? Would it be enough for you if it just have the basic features? I'm asking because I saw the lm6200 from Amazon. It's cheap, less than a grand. Design wise, it's different from the other current models by not having a thin bezel. But when I checked the 3d and smart specs it's pretty much similar with the more expensive ones.

In my area, I don't have espn so I rely on smart TV apps for MLB and NBA. I find it very useful, especially if your into sports. But you do have a point.

Everyone, thanks for the input. I also checked the LM6200 as per katekim89's suggestion and it really is a good deal. It is indeed a basic smart 3d tv. It's just that I do want more features if possible. Anyway, I really prepared for this purchase. Extra $200 won't really matter if we're talking about better processor.

They are both great TVs. If you are adamant on using whole budget regardless if the LM7600 is cheaper, I would recommend you get a surround sound system with the LG 7600 rather than the LM8600. Sure the dual-chip is fast but the LM7600 is already fast IMO.

LG Magic Motion Remote

Feature-wise, the main difference is that the LM8600 has voice recognition in its magic motion remote while the LM7600 has the basic magic motion remote. still magical minus the voice.

By just looking the color of TV frame, casing, and the stand are different. LM8600 sports a silver color while the LM7600 has a darker one.

I was about to get the 47" of lm7600 from Amazon but it's out of stock right now. I checked the lm8600 too and you are right that the price difference is not that much. But actually, lm8600 is $300 more expensive. If I get the 55" of lm7600 I have to pay $500 more. Now, I'm torn between having a bigger screen or a dual core.

47 inch LM8600

richardtravis16, I would suggest you get a 47 inch LM8600. 55 inch and 47 inch won't make that much of a difference, but dual processor and single processor will. Beside, LM8600 has a built-in mic in the magic remote. When you are tired or just lying down on your sofa, this could be very helpful.
