Anyone have a chance to compare the 55LW5300 with the 55LW5600? They seem to be nearly identical (all I saw was a slight different in quoted contrast ratio).

This feeds into my conspiracy theory on the 5600. With the 5600 being heavily discounted at retailers and now a nearly identical 5300 in stores, I wonder if the 5600 will still be produced.

I'll answer my own question. The 5300 is not a "smart TV". I think that means it doesn't have the network apps. I didn't realize it from the feature description, but there was a comment on it in one of the customer reviews. This is actually a pretty big difference.

I've also figured out that the 5300 is packaged with the Bluray player, but the same review on Bestbuy.com commented that the player doesn't support net content either.

With the 5600 still $1450 at Bestbuy.com (at least as of yesterday), I still think it is by far the better deal compared to the 5300 with a modest Bluray player at $1600.
