HELP!! Older Model MacBook Pro Dead as Dead can be! :(

by MadDog843 - 6/16/13 1:15 AM

Alright, so I recently got given an older model (2007-2008 approx.) 15" MacBook Pro. The overall laptop is in fantastic condition, other than the fact that it will not boot. At all. I've tried a deep drain on the system to unload the capacitors, I have taken it all apart and checked and re-plugged all connections, I have taken out all internal and external peripherals, I have re-seated the RAM (Stock memory so it should be okay anyways), I have reset the SMC and the PMU and still nothing. The MagSafe adapter has been replaced, but was replaced with an 85W which I do believe is what this laptop is supposed to take. When I flip it over and test the battery, there is not a light that comes on. I was told the battery was good prior to it stopping working. There are no visual signs of power coming into the computer at all, no LED on the front button either. The only thing I can see is that the LED indicator on the end of the AC Adapter is always Green when it is plugged, except for when I press the power button it goes amber for about 3 seconds then returns to green. Obviously some power is going through the system. I need HELP! I really want this MacBook...I've never had an Apple computer before and I would like to learn but I haven't had the money to buy one...I am willing to put some money into this one if I have too...but I want to troubleshoot to see what it could be. The two things that have come up on top of what I have just mentioned are the MagSafe DC in board and the Logic Board....any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! The specs are as follows:

Apple MacBook Pro
Model Number: A1226
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor @ 2.20 Ghz
2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM (2x 1GB)
128MB Graphics
120GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard-Disk Drive

Please let me know what your thoughts are, and if I do need replacement parts, where is the cheapest yet most decent quality place to obtain them? Thanks a ton in advance
