Safari crashes.

For no obvious reason my safari started crashing only a few seconds into it.
I never had any serious trouble with it before.
The only out of the way thing that happened was that my internet went down for a few minutes when the Apple MacBook(wireless connected) was off and I was working on my PC (Ethernet connected).I switched my router off for a minute and then tried the MacBook laptop after switching it back on, because it happened to be the nearest computer.
MacBook 2,1 Snow Leopard, 13inch white, about six years old.
I have a problem with remembering procedures, even when I was well versed in, if I do not use them frequently enough.
I am sure Safari is corrupted but I can not find a way to correct it. Since I loaded Snow Leopard I started Time Machine about six months ago.
I have time machine running but can not find the way to find appropriate place to get safari back.
I shall be grateful for some help.

Time Machine 101

Open your applications folder and find Safari.
Do not click it, just find it.
Now open Time Machine. You will find it in the dock. Not Time Machine preferences, just Time Machine
When it opens you will be looking at the latest backup of your Applications folder.
On the right of the screen you will see a time line going backwards.
Choose a data that is before the problem started.
When you choose the date, the view will go back in time until you are looking at how your Applications folder looked on that date.
Find Safari in that window and SINGLE click it.
On the bottom left of the screen, click Restore
If prompted to overwrite, click Yes

Once done, close Time Machine and launch Safari.

Any difference?

I am, as ever, grateful to you for your response. I tried that, but I was facing the same issue.
In desperation I "Reset" the Safari and "Empty the cache" . Then tried the process.
Without your guidance things were bad.
Now I have gone back to my 1st. October 2012 Safari and the Safari is stable.The great by product of the thing is that I have learnt how to use the Time Machine afresh. Besides , the Restore Button on my Apple MacBook (bought in Canada some years ago) is on the bottom Right hand corner.

I was posting from memory and got the Restore button sides mixed up.

All the Restore buttons are on the Right, not just the canadian ones. grin
