What are the best options for storing photos online (or otherwise) from iphoto?
I have a MacBook Pro and just updated to OS X so I could get icloud, hoping that I could store photos there. But quickly learned that photos only stay in the cloud for 30 days. My laptop has about 90GB of photos on it and is stuffed. I had been storing some photos on CDs, but recently have read that isn't a good long term solution. I have things backed up, but am on my third external drive in three years (two crashed) so I'm leery of using that as anything more than a short term backup solution versus longterm storage.
Just tried using Picassa, but it seems like the program was duplicating photos from iphoto on my hard drive, eating up the small amount of space I had left. Flickr seems to be the only easy upload option from iphoto, but considering I have to pay for it I want to make sure it's the best solution before moving forward. Thanks for any advice!

As we know, any storage is just a copy. So while CD/DVD is nice we see it's popularity fading. I can get nice 64 and higher GB flash drives but those are not immune to mistakes or misplacement.
Here I have multiple drives and sync them once in awhile. These are pretty cheap at 99 bucks today but the biggest issue I see is the word "storage." It's not storage but a place that holds a copy. To protect our stuff we need multiple copies in more than one location.
As that was taught decades again, I'll stop here and find a picture of drives from a google farm.

Any 90 GB web storage won't be free. Free is about 5 GB, maybe 10 GB with some offerings.
But an external disk isn't free either. And while they are somewhat unreliable, they should stay working much longer with careful handling and storing between your (monthly?) incremental backups. Personally, I would go for another PC/Mac in my home network and an external disk stored elsewhere. But there's nothing really wrong with web storage.

Kess_B, you're right, and I realize that I'll have to pay for *something*. That's why I'm trying to figure out where best to spend my money, and hedge my bet that it will be a reasonable long term solution and an easy integration with iphoto. I could easily just jump to Flickr and spend a lot of time uploading photos there without asking the question, and then find out a year later that there's a better option that might cost slightly more but is better in the long term (think 5-10 years ideally).
Another PC or Mac is simply out of my price range, but certainly that would be ideal!
