Air Optical Drive Work-around question

I just bought a macbook air and i'm thinking about installing windows on it via bootcamp. The only problem is that it doesn't have an optical drive. I didn't buy the superdrive because I will never use it.

I have a usb-usb data transfer cable I can use between two computers, so would it be possible to put the windows disc into a PC, run the usb-usb cable to the air, and then use the disc that way?

The other idea I had was buying a cable like this to directly connect my dell optical drive to the air via usb.

Anyone have any idea if either of these will work? I'd rather not buy an optical drive for a one time use.

The one in my kit is all too similar. It can be found you google and the terms
Geeks 2020

It's very useful to drag files off hard drives as well as what you noted.

Not sure how Boot Camp works in its initial

stages, the install of Windows, but it may be that Boot Camp on the AIR is looking for an optical drive that has an Apple on it.
With another Mac, you can "Share" the optical drive with the Air but I don't know if that works with a Windows machine.

Let us know if you have a successful install of Windows.
