Macbook pro angry buzz - why, what & how to fix?

My beloved MacMolly seems to have caught a (fatal?) illness.
It's a Macbook pro 15 inch purchased June 2011 so it's fairly new (produced early 2011 according to About this Mac)
I had left it hybernating for two hours (by selecting sleep from the menu) When I opened it, it worked for about 10 minutes then a very loud "electrical angry bug" sound came from it and everything froze. (I was trying to load a few heavy www's at the time).
First I tried to just close down the screen which helped but as soon as I reopened it it started again and everything froze again.
I ended up shutting it off by holding in the button. Then I let it rest for ten minutes and have now started it up again. So far, 10-15 minutes in it seems fine. But what was that? And how can I fix it?
Earlier I have had a blue-screen issue where it would go into blue screen and had to be force closed down as well. That problem was solved when I installed OS X.
