Last week I had an internet interruption which fixed itself overnight. Prior to that my I-Mac's internet connection through my Net-Gear wireless router was working fine and had been for the last 7 months. Since the interruption, the internet on the I-Mac no longer works. I also have a small laptop that runs Windows XP and it still works fine for the internet. In trying to resolve this problem I checked out the preferences for Safari and it says that the "Airport is connected." It also says that "Airport is connected to my home network and has the IP address of ###.###.#.#. It also indicates that the internet connection is working so I am at loss as to why the Windows XP laptop is able to access the internet but the I-Mac can't anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.

there is no danger in giving what the IP address is, it should be something like 192.168.X.X but if yours does not start with 192 then you have a problem.
What is the IP address?
If it helps, my IP address is 192.168.2.54
Can the iMac connect to the internet if you run an ethernet cable from the iMac to the Router?

My IP address is 192.168.1.4. Haven't tried to connect with an ethernet cable as it was working with the wireless router. I'm pretty sure it would work as I have 3 PCs hooked up to the router by cable and they all work. I'm one of those guys who hangs on to my old machines.

Can this particular iMac, the one with the problem, connect to the internet using an ethernet cord plugged into the Router?
