iMac Game download problem

* What I am trying to do: Download some FREE Mac Games from "www.sofotex.com"* My problem: Irrespective of the game I choose, when I click on "Download", instead of the Game downloading, I seem to be directed to "App Store". The game I have chosen on SOFOTEX is NOT available on "App Store"
* I have downloaded several games from the "App Store" directly in the past without any issues .
* I thought it might be because I have NOT registered with SOFOTEX. So I did this, logged in, and tried again only to come up with the same problem.
* My iMac system: mac OS X 10.6.8 with plenty of memory, RAM and corei3 processor (only 4 months old Mac).
* I am generally able to download stuff (files, games etc) from other sites without any problems.
* I use SAFARI with a WiFi Cable Modem.

PS: As an aside, can anyone also tell me if it is generally safe to download GAMES from the sofotex website
PPS: I did succeed in downloading one Game but it happened to be a WINDOWS game so I simply deleted it. Very puzzling that Mac Games will NOT download.

That's not a good sign to be honest. While Apple has been known to be rather heavy handed (quite possibly <insert name of secret police organization from an authoritarian regime here> like) and completely opaque about why they choose to remove certain apps from their app store, many times it's because the app was not safe. Such as containing some kind of malware, that may have been missed upon initial inspection, but after getting some complaints from people a closer look was taken...

Whether or not this is what happened in this particular case I can't say. Apple doesn't even bother telling developers why an app was rejected/removed, if they bother telling them it was rejected/removed at all. However, something about this whole situation just seems a bit suspicious to me, so it might be that you're better off without these games.

the fault lies with sofotex.com

The links they supply are what is taking you to the App store.

Seems that all the Mac games are in the App Store, some are, but it would appear that some have been removed from there.

If all the links point to the App Store, you can be fairly sure that it is safe to download them. You are not actually downloading from Sofotex
