Hi,
Not too good with computers and fairly new to the world of Mac so please forgive my fairly basic understanding of all things technical!!!
I have woken this morning to find that my e-mail account has been sending out a number of e-mails at 04:52GMT to various but not all contacts in my address book. I only knew this as I had a number of 'bounced' e-mails from addresses no longer in use. On checking my sent items I can see seven e-mails, each sent to ten different contacts.
I noticed something strange yesterday when I was unable to access my e-mail account which kept stating my password was incorrect, I have since changed that and am now able to access it.
I don't recall opening any peculiar e-mails myself and only have a limited number of websites that I access, all of which I have been accessing for years with no previous problems.
Having already trawled the forums I have downloaded and am running scans through ClamXav which has already dragged up a couple 'Heuristic Phishing E-mails' but on checking these in my mail file they are old e-mails from 2004-06 from Ebay which seems a little odd and would surprise me if they were the problem.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might have happened, how I may find the source of the problem and how I might prevent it happening again in the future.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.7 (I'm sure that will mean something to somebody!). My e-mail is through my AOL account.
Never had anything like this happen before and it is quite upsetting!
