Optical drive iBook G4 to iMac G5

Is it possible to disconnect the optical superdrive from my iBook G4 (which is dead but the superdrive still works) and install it in my iMac G5? (Superdrive here is dead)

it all depends on connectors, location of the connectors, length of connectors, type of connector, supports, their location.
Is that a slot or a tray on that iBook G4?
Early iBook G4's had trays
Would be an interesting project given how easy it is to get into the iMac G5 (at least the early ones)

They both are slot loading.

Still all the other factors to take into consideration.

Not all optical drives are the same shape and size, but they are all kinda similar.
Do it and see is the best bet here.
