OOPS I dropped a memory card into the wrong slot!

Hi All: I wanted to put my digital camera memory card into the appropriate slot on my new iMac, but I ended putting it into the DVD slot instead!!
I tried to remove it but it went in further.

I called Apple, and they said I may have to replace the optical drive at worst if its too embedded!

OMG.

I'll try to remove the card by putting the iMac on its side, and hope gravity and tweezers will do.

Dough!

Otherwise off to the repair shop tomorrow.

Thoughts anyone?

Nope. Digging around in there might only make things worse. Better to take it to a shop where someone can take the drive out and apart. You PROBABLY won't need to replace the drive, but it's hard to say what damage you may have done by digging around in there blindly.

Well, thanks for your reply.
I was going to take the sensible today BUT,
I turned the iMac on its side (after minimal shaking, and a little probing)and out popped the card like a tongue...
Sorry to be so alarmist, but I needed to tread carefully on this.
I tried a CD/DVD, and all seems fine.

You don't even understand, I did this on my mom's computer and I thought I was screwed until I searched up what I should do and saw this! Did the same thing and it came out!! LIFESAVER
