Trouble With PostScript Font

Does anybody have experience working with PostScript fonts? I've been using them for 10 years and have not encountered a problem like this one.

I'm trying to create a document using the "intelligent barcode" font. My program recognizes the font as a True Type, but once I implement the PostScript equivalent, I'm told it "does not appear to be a valid PFB file."

Can anyone help me? I'm expected to have this resolved for my job ASAP.

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4664203 is worth reading as we know to not use an old font installer. Your story is too light for me to offer much else.

Sorry for being so vague, but I figure you're not likely to be familiar with the software I'm using so I didn't elaborate earlier.

I use an older print document software which, in order to generate PostScript output, requires me to create a "Font Metrics" file. I do this by creating a script in Notepad which reads in .PFB files and generates an output file. When I ran it today, it read in everything except the barcode font, for which it gave me the error listed above.

I did read over the thread you linked me to. I don't recognize .PFM as a format, but can look when I'm back at work to see if I have those files for other fonts I use.

And would not expect you to be familiar with them as well. It's been over a decade since we had an app write postscript files so I am rusty but I know the basics. In the case of fonts they usually just work but today I find folk all over the map on that.

For my barcode today we use .html since it's a little more current and we can expect the hosts to be able to render and print such. We stopped using postscript fonts over a decade ago for reasons I'm sure you're aware of.
