I installed a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 on it. It is now my primary (master) drive and working fine. I want to keep my old drive as a storage device and also access old files. It has Windows XP on it. I want to retain the XP O.S. on my old drive. The old drive is a SATA drive and the manual says leave jumpers off to make it a slave. It never had jumpers installed so I figure its a cable defined master/slave? When I try to run the PC with both drives installed (new drive in SATA connector 1 and the old drive in SATA connector 2) the PC boots up fine but I loose access to printers, email and other things. Basically it gets dumb.
Can I do what I want to without having to wipe my old drive? And how?
