You installed new HD but did you do everything else? Did you copy 100% the old to new drive? If not and did a simple OS install, then you lack the proper drivers and acknowledged any added devices, etc., BUT you don't explain what you did, so this is an open question.

As for having old and new HDs present, well that's not good. It has to see the primary HD in order to boot an that's where it gets all the info to acknowledge devices, etc., not seek elsewhere. You will have to install printers etc. if you didn't clone or image old to new HD in some way. In fact does you PC see the old HD at all in its setup? Click on computer, are there 2 HDs present and shows data to access.

Review how your HD are setup by checking the HD maker's support website. There are jumpers(or missing)involved though they needn't be that for HD1 or HD2, etc., even master/slave but it may suggest that because the bios has EIDE or PATA legacy setting or acknowledgement for ease of SATA usage. Which is why i refer you to read about all this from the maker's support website under FAQ or help guide docs as it "directly" relates to your model# HD. Also, your PC maker's manual would help as well.
