not getting wifi connection in Lenovo Laptop

My Lenovo Laptop Model 2049, 3000G410 series, works fine in internet, but when my son is trying to use it in wifi in his college campus it does not connect. Someone suggested that wifi driver is not installed. So I searched for wifi driver for this model. Got three (1) Broadband wireless LAN driver (2) Intel wireless LAN driver (3)Intel pro/wireless 3945ABG LAN driver. Which one of these to be installed and what else to be done to get it connected to the wifi in his campus ? Pls help with ur mail address so that I can contact directly if required.

Does this work in free WiFi zones? You didn't say.

Many of these college networks require you to logon and you must be good at using your laptop. That is, turning on the WiFi with that button or maker's app. This series does have WiFi and unless there is more story such as "I installed Windows 8" I can't think of anything else except one thing.

Some colleges mandate you register your laptop prior to connection. Don't guess. Ask them.
