Once Jailbreaked can the iPhone 4S tether 3G/4G

This question is for Sharon Vaknin and related to her video "Jailbreak your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch".

I want to know once jailbreaked can the iPhone 4S tether 3G/4G on carrier network like AT&T or Verizon without paying extra for the tether feature.

Hey, Andy. Even with the tethering apps for jailbroken phones, your carrier is able to detect that you're tethering. You'll end up getting charged and it's just not worth the hassle.

I've done tethering without AT&T knowing. And to a lesser extent w/ Verizon. I no longer have "unlimited data", so it's less tempting to tether. But one of the apps from Cydia has a 'hide' tethering option. I honestly think it depends how much of the overpriced data you consume - before there's a problem. If you're stream netflix or espn for a weekend - maybe not so good? Also. I've never relied on my iphone's data plan as my only internet connection. Doing so for a few months would probably get you "warning" from your carrier. Trying to stay under the 2GB/month makes the overlords happy. it's a real shame because this whole "greedy mismangaged mobile carrier " situation in the US makes 4G data not at all attractive....as you'd simply run up past the arbitrary 2GB/month limits much quicker over 4G.
