A cnet installer frame is appearing when I activate the dedicated software download but the cnet installer only gives the option to "Close" despite saying to click "Next" to continue with step 1 of the installation.

Try the 'direct download' from the download page. You'll get the program without cnet installer. That should solve the problem.
