How to transfer TV Recordings from HDD DVR to iMac?

I use my external hard drive as my DVR. I simply connect my HDD (WD Passport SE 1TB) to my samsung 8000 3DTV and then the rest is done by the tv. The tv formats the drive and makes and enables the tv's recording and timmeshift functions. The thing is, I want to transfer those tv recordings to my iMac. Whenever, i connect the hdd to my iMac only one of its partition shows (the hdd has 2 partition; 1 for my computer and the other as my DVR). How can I transfer these recrdings to my iMac?

Unless Samsung offers a tool.

Or a procedure you are left to snooping around the drive and seeing if software like VLC PLAYER can play it.

But almost all HD recordings are protected so let's be sure you are not repeating what others have found out.
