How to forum: How do I load a monitor driver?

And could you tell if the download is an executable file, zip file, etc? You do this through your display setting but the steps vary a bit by OS.

I'm running Vista SP2. There are 3 files: security catalog, ICC profile, and setup information. They are referred to as 'compressed size.'

you do this through device manager. You find the monitor, right click and select properties, go to driver and select the "update driver" option. You navigate to where you've downloaded and uncompressed the file set and hope it's recognized as valid. If not, you get some message that it cannot find a compatible driver. You will need to make sure you've got the correct driver (32 or 64 bit) as well.

Thank you. I did what you suggested. However, the message came back that I was using the most up to date driver (NVIDIA GeForce 7150M/nForce630M), which I believe is the laptop monitor. The external monitor works OK, but it's too bright. I guess I'll have to deal with.

That NVidia GeForce you talk about is your video, (graphics), card and not the monitor. Did you see any entries in the Device Manager for monitor? I have dual monitors on my Desktop and the Device Manager has both monitors listed.

Did you get a manual for this monitor? I found one here; http://us.aoc.com/support/downloads and if you fill in the details you will see the manual offered as a PDF download.

If you look in Page 40 you will see instructions for setting the monitor up for Vista.

If that doesn't work, have you tried using the video adapter's own control panel for adjusting brightness, color and other things? If your video card has one it will be available in the right click men when you right click any empty space on the Desktop, (Wallpaper), display.
