adding dual monitors to laptop problem

Hello,

I am trying to connect two monitors to my laptop. I have one working fine via the vga port. Andone connected to the HDMI port with a HDMI to VGA adapter cord going to the VGA port on the second monitor. Windows will not detect the one in the HDMI port. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I agree with Robert. More than likely the dual laptop ports are provided simply as using "only one" for connectivity purposes so you don't need some later adapter. Under typical OS operation you option it for dual video display, anything beyond that is excessive and requires yet some other device to go beyond. I exclude any possible s/w or what the added device provides as part of it's kit.

Very few laptops support 3 monitors (the laptop display counts as one.)

To get 3 total monitors I have to add a display device such as this -> http://www.amazon.com/Sewell-direct-Minideck-Display-Adapter/dp/B003E1Q1UA

Just add the second display and set windows to extend the desktop. But some are very challenged by this. That is, it's not exactly the same procedure across versions of windows and definitely can change with the make, model PC!
