How to connect laptop to analog TV?

Hi

I want to connect my laptop to my analog TV (don't have a HDTV with HDMI yet, but will buy when I have enough money). I want something like a USB that connects to the laptop & something that connects to the analog TV. It's similar to this but this one doesn't support laptop to analog TV video viewing. I want the connection to play what I'm playing on laptop to be played on TV.

Please tell me how I can do that.

FYI, my laptop doesn't have S-cable support. It's a Thinkpad T61.

All you told is what the laptop and the TV don't have for video out and in, respectively. It would have been much more informative if you had told what they DO have, because you would need to use a cable to convert one of the available video outputs of the laptop to one of the available video inputs of the TV.
So please try again.

Well, I'm sorry for not mentioning about my TV. It's a 1994 SONY Trinitron. It's quite an old model.

I'll buy a new TV soon. But before that I was hoping to get a connection/cable for $10 or so that I can hook up to my laptop & watch videos.

Check the TV inputs

If it has S-video or composite video jacks and you laptop has a VGA output connector, their are cable adapters that might work. Google "VGA to S-video adapters". But without a VGA output such as would go to an external monitor or LCD projector, you're going to be out of luck.

It had both s-Video and composite video inputs such as would work with some devices back then. S-Video looks very similar to PS-2 mouse connectors so should be easy to find on your TV if you have such. Composite types are usually identified by color coded RCA plugs and jacks. I'm thinking video is yellow and audio is red. But even if you have S-video you need a separate wire for sound. It will be an RCA type. If you do have a VGA output from your laptop, you look for an adapter that will match what you find on your TV. Good luck...outa' here now.

For a non-digital TV I think you will need a VGA connector as shown in;

But your laptop must have a VGA port on it as well, otherwise you will need a VGA/DVI Adapter like these;
