HP campaigned for the PLUS standard years ago.

You see remnants of this at old pages like.

Notice these older machines do not write to DVD-R.

IT SHOULD NOT MATTER but when it comes to HP machines and drives I reach for DVD PLUS media.

I am wondering if you are talking about burning the OS disks, if so you should be able to use either DVD- or DVD+ I generally use the - disks but that is more out of habit than anything else, either should work.
