Use XP laptop as projector or 2nd monitor for Win 7 laptop?

My main laptop has Windows 7 and the other laptop has Windows XP. Can someone tell me how to project to the laptop with XP and/or how to use it as a 2nd monitor for the laptop with Windows 7? I need to figure out how to do this ASAP.

Thanks, but I won't be networking the laptops, since the one I need to to display on belongs to a friend. I currently project onto my TV using a VGA cable and the TV's PC input, and I was hoping to be able to do something as easy as that. Projecting to the other laptop would be my first choice (allows me to work in the sofware I need to access while others see what it's projecting), but using her laptop as a 2nd monitor would also work, if that's easier to figure out.

Does the friends laptop have a VGA in port?

Does this laptop have a VGA input?

If not, why not connect the ethernet ports and get it done?

The problem has been that the 2nd laptop doesn't have a VGA input, so we tried every connector and adaptor we could think of...but I forgot about the ethernet port. blush Guess when impatient people are looking on and time is ticking away, it's easy to forget the obvious. I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks!
