stay out of Terminal.

What version of the Mac Operating System are these disks you have?

That iBook would work with System 9, the forum you are currently in, or OS X up to 10.4.11, at least.

I gather from the Terminal statement,that you had some version of OS X installed, which one was it?

What have you tried, so far, to load a new OS onto your iBook?

The small Mac face and the question mark indicates that the system cannot find a valid System folder from which to load the OS. The Mac face is usually only seen when the system is booting into System 9 (referred to as Classic when used in conjunction with OS X ) which may indicate that the system has no idea that OS X once existed on your hard drive.
