AOL no longer allowing Macs running Classic to connect

As of today, my grandmother's early iMac, running OS 9.2, can no longer connect to AOL using AOL 5.0, which until now has been the only version that Macs running Classic could use to access AOL. The phone tech person says her only option is to upgrade to OS X and install the AOL OS X version. This is probably not feasible. Can anyone suggest any kind of workaround? Thanks!

to cough up for a new machine for Granny.

Doesn't need to be a brand new iMac, although that would be nice, just something capable of running OS X.

A G4 iMac may suit her
