Scan won't finish

Hello, I have a problem with AVG Free 2013. I tried to scan the whole system 3 times, but every time it reaches 100% and gets stuck, also writing "Finishing". I also can't stop, pause or cancel the scan. I had to reebot to try a new one. What should I do?

Hi Bycus,

We were able to reproduce similar issue in our environment and our developers are investigating it.
Could you please verify that the scan is completed if the anti-rootkit scan is not part of the whole computer scan? To change the whole computer scan configuration, please proceed as follows:
1. Open the AVG user interface and press F8.
2. Expand the Scans item.
3. Click the Whole computer scan and untick the Scan for rootkits on the right side of the window.
4. Click OK to save the configuration.
5. Run the whole computer scan. Is it finalized properly?

Hi JiriF_AVG,

I did what you told me to and I wasn't able to finish the scan. It freezed at 94% and after 5 minutes of waiting I got an error saying that my License number is not correct, although I use the Free version of AVG downloaded from the official website. After that, I couldn't use AVG anymore and I had to reboot the computer.

Also, before I did what you told me too, the " Whole system scan" scanned almost 1 million objects until it got to the freezing stage where it got stuck. After the modification you told me to make, there were 1.5 million object scanned until it got frozen at 94%.

Hi Bycus,

The issue you are facing seems to be different to the one induced by us. Please use this diagnostic utility to gather all AVG log files together with basic system information. Kindly provide valid e-mail address, the troubleshooting will continue via e-mails. In the message body, please either describe the issue in details or summarize the situation briefly and copy and paste a link to this discussion thread there (http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19703_102-577897/scan-won-t-finish). Make sure to mention that more objects are scanned after disabling the rootkit scan.
