Manage updates with the Download App
I have just been sent an update which I tried, but failed, to download.
The update is called AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2013 2013.0.2667 and my system says that it is not a valid Win32 application.
How do we overcome this?

You "have been sent an update". What does that mean? A friend of you attached the file to an email and sent it to you? Or something else?
I'd ask the sender to resend it. Usually, it means something got lost during the download. Can happen. Then most often the second or third time go OK.
Of course, it's possible that it already was invalid at the source. Then the sender should make a new original. But that's an exception.

Thanks for coming back.
The update was sent to me by the usual Email from your selves I think. The sender was:
CNET Download Alert [alerts@cnet.online.com]

They probably mailed a link. Then you clicked on that link to download something. And that something turned out to be corrupted, this time.
I'd try to download again. If it fails 3 times, go to a friend or family member and try there. If it fails there also, post the link here so somebody from AVG can check the source.

That's the email address that sent you the mail. I don't know the contents. You do.
My guess is that it contained a link like htpp://... that you clicked on to download something that should have been a valid program, but turned out not to be.

If re-downloading the application as recommended above by Kees won't help you resolve the issue, you may want to check Image File Exceution Options in registry.
If you suspect the system may be infected, I recommend scanning it using updated AVG Rescue CD first.
Should the issue persist, please provide us with an msinfo output and both GMER scan results for analysis.
