Accessed a simple looking innocuous website regarding floristry techniques - I'm a florist (with an IT background).
Immediate automatic closure of IE and a data recovery window pops up and a flood of hazard error message telling me my hard drive is in mortal danger - press this button to fix!!
I'm not stupid and realised this was malware or a virus, so managed to get IE back up (despite the malware hiding most of my files from start up), googled it and find it's a well known malware.
How can I remove it qckly from my PC?
*AVG customer support(!) advised they only fix via email (which can take a couple of days) or they can transfer me to their 'partner' Virgin Digital Help, who can fix it remotely & quickly via an engineer but for the princely sum of £70 or £85!!!) I already pay AVG to stop me getting these things in the first place - not happy!!
