AVG forum: How can i remove mystart by incredibar?

I went entered help(top of window) I then selected troubleshooting information and then reset Firefox. Cleared all browsing and it hasn't shown back up so far. Restarted. Ran Malware.

(chrome) go to setting then go to extensions search for mystart the desapel it

1 uninstall INCREDIBAR and web... something...
2 open it firefox web browser
3 On address bar write "about:config"
4 find it "browser.newtab.url" right click and select "modify" delete it this url and write "about:home"
5 find it "extensions.incredibar.tlbrSrchUrl" right click and select "modify" delete it this url
6 find it "extensions.incredibar_i.tlbrSrchUrl" right click and select "modify" delete it this url
7 find it "keyworld.URL" right click and select "modify" and delete this url
8 then click Tolls > Options and press "Restore to Default"
9 close firefox and open again. Start page is clear like before, new tab is clean like first tab.
10 then go to http://www.avast.com and download free avast (for me the best anti-virus) install.
11 your browser now is OK Enjoy.

The fix is actually quite simple.

Step 1: Open the Settings tab in Chrome.
Step 2: In the Settings, at the far right you'll see an 'Extensions' tab. Click on it!
Step 3: Remove the Extension by the name of something like 'New tab provided by google' May seem legit, but this is your problem.

It took me awhile to figure it out, but finally it's gone! I know the feel though, soooo annoying!

I can attest to the fact that it works since I used it myself.

About 2 weeks ago, the incredibar popped up on my screen while I was trying to unload some application on line. I clicked on 'NO' but it made its way somehow into my laptop (I use windows 7 operating system). Every time I opened the chrome browser, the incredibar startup would show up. I read several suggestions on line, and I tried everything - all programs, manage search engines, setting the home page , and then even reboot the computer. It would seem to go away for a couple of times and then afterwards it would show up again. It was so frustrating, I did not know what to do. After everything else failed, I resorted to restore using an automatic back up that was taken by the system few weeks ago (before this wretched incredibar started to show up on my system). Even then I kept my fingers crossed, fearful that it may be lurking somewhere and will show up again. It has been a week now and it never showed up. Looks like the restore worked. Fortunately I did not install any software recently, so it was quite painless. So, if all the things you normally do to change the start up, then try the restore using a prior backup. Hope this helps.

My Computer > Program Files > Perion > DELETE THE FOLDER!!! Restart, sit back and smile. World peace restored...
