I use AGV (free) error message 0x800ccc0f arises. Help!

I have used AGV 12 since issued. One incoming (unrequested) email from iTunes timed at 00.27 on Thursday 25th April downloads itself repeatedly and system stops showing "downloading 3 of (an increasing number!)" and 0800cc0f appears plus narrative about server interupting connection etc. I have restored systen to an earlier date; no difference. I have turned AVG antivirus off (and back on). I am unable to receive any emails but can send normally. My service provider is btinternet. Their automatic "help and problem checker" detects that that there is a problem. On clicking "Fix" it runs through its checks and then says it has "fixed it" (which it hasn't!) Any help very welcome.
