If I have compared AVG9 Free and AVG9 Trial (Internet Security), AVG9 Trial has more components available:
- Anti-rootkit
- Identity Protection - behavioural detection
- Online Shield - files checker before they are downloaded from Internet
- System tools
- Anti-spam (in case you are using email client, not web-browser email interface)

AVG9 Trial has editable all settings (update servers, schedules - scan/update), where AVG9 Free has locked tab of free update servers' url, available only one scheduled scan and time period of scheduled virus database update is limited (every 24 hours).

Both versions are using the same virus database and are mostly on the same program version (depends on QA and release plan).

With AVG Trial and Pro you have free technical assistance (support) whenever you need it.

Paid AVG is not available with lifetime license and is needed to renew it every year (or two).
