Problems installing AVG 9

Sirs,

I run IE8 on XP,with a small home network. The PC is linked to the main server/PC via an OfficeDirect Hub 8/TPC, and I am having problems installing AVG 9. The prompt states that it cannot find an internet connection when it does it's connectivity search.

The network wa set up using MS Home Networking, and has never given any probelms before this.

I am currently using the PC which AVG says does not have a connection!
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Please use the full AVG installation file - direct link http://free.avg.com/download-file-ins-afg-free - instead of the download manager version to check, if installation will be then successful.

Another way how to download the full AVG installation file is second option on this AVG website:
http://free.avg.com/ww-en/download.prd-afg#tba2

cannot install AVG free antivirus

Hi

I'm fed up with all this AVG stuff. Was perfectly ok with AVG free antivirus but repeated prompts to ugrade finally wore me down. Uninstalled AVG and downloaded new version 9.0 but when installation is almost complete it says I must uninstall The Shields Antivirus that I had a couple of years ago and wish I fully uninstalled via Add & Remove. A search of my pc reveals no trace of it.

The prompt says it must be uninstalled as it will interfere with the new AVG 9.0. What do I do now ? I need to get protected today. Need detailed instructions please. Thanks

hey, computer is fairly flying with no antivirus to chain it down.

Hello,

If there is a possibility to skip the warning and continue installation anyway please use it.

If there is not try to purge the windows repository:

Windows Vista / 7, Right Click -> Run as administrator is needed:
http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/support/delrepwv_en.exe

Windows XP:
http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/support/delrepxp_en.exe

If it still doesnt help please locate following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
and check if there are any keys that could be related to The Shields Antivirus.
