RE: Problem with AVG 9.0 Free
Hi,
thanks for the earliest reply. Now to give a proper idea about my system - I have recieved Vista Home Premium pre-installed with my laptop and have upgraded it to SP2 but that was about a month ago, when I was using avg 8.5 Free which was giving perfect performance without any hicks. About 3 Days back I installed AVG 9.0 in order to get the extra features by first downloading it to the hard disk and going offline for the installation / upgradation of AVG. I have windows automatic updates turned on. And recieve all the updates perfectly without any problem. As far as your question about what security softwares I'm using is concerned, I'm using Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2.46, Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1600.0 Engine Version: 1.1.5101.0 Definition Version: 1.67.940.0, Malwarebytes Antimalware 1.41, Sometimes I do scan with AVG Antirootkit Free 1.1.0.42(the last known free version from AVG), I use Internet Explorer version 8. My system had also downloaded the patches batch from microsoft on the 13 oct. 2009. Please note all the security softwares including the acrobat reader, Internet explorer Version 8.0.6001.18828 and media player V.11 on my laptop are updated to the latest versions and patches available. Now about the next question - it is possible to perform the Shell extension Test by right clicking on a folder. The Version of AVG, as mentioned in the earlier posts is AVG 9.0.686 Virus Database Engine 270.14.23/2448, Link Scanner Version 135. Since about two days my internet explorer was also not functioning correctly. So I started using Google Chrome which was functioning perfectly and today I tried with my Internet Explorer it is again working perfectly fine. But the problem with AVG 9.0.686 still remains a mystery. Well this is quite a long mail for you. But I hope it provides you with all the required information in detail. If you still require more information on any specific software then pls let me know.
Regards,
Pravin.
