Usage of an express card on laptops.

Hi, I purchased a Dell XPS LX501, i5-560m, 8gb ram, 500gb hdd, 2 usb 2.0 ports 1 usb 3.0/eSata combo port, BUT NO FIREWIRE NOR EXPRESS CARD SLOT!! I just finished chatting with a Dell sales rep. and according to her I can purchase the following item and connect it to my computer through the USB port, and then connect the firewire device to the adapter:

Connection would go:

1) USB cable between express card and computer port.
2) Firewire cable between express card and firewire device.


I repeat, the LX501 does not come with an Express Card Slot, and I would just like to know if what the sales rep. suggests is actually possible, since I have never seen this done before, and would like to know if anyone has the chance to test this out!!

No that does not work.

As of today there is no known working USB to Firewire solution. There are some claims but so far all fail to deliver.

For this work I head to a machine with firewire for the capture step.
