Can I have your advice please?

by sfjnet - 1/28/11 4:18 AM

Hi - I am new to netbooks so forgive anything dumb I may say. I want to buy one for my daughter to use mainly for her school work, plus some Facebook and watching iPlayer or Youtube. Anyway I have looked around and I am quite intrigued by the Lenovo Ideapad S12. I know it is an older model but the specs (12" screen, 250Gb disk, 2Gb RAM, full Windows 7) are very good in comparison to others in its price range of just over ?200. My question for you is about the processor. It has an Atom N270 processor which, I am aware, is out-dated now since most others seem to have the N450. I know that newer and faster = better in most cases however considering the rest of the specs and the use that my daughter will put it to, is the N270 good enough? Obviously it was back when this model was released (and all others were 270s as well) and its reviews from the time are pretty good. My daughter is used to my crappy, slow laptop so she won't be a demanding techno-geek. What do you think?
