Is this a reasonable laptop for gaming at this price?

Hey so I'm pretty new to buying laptops and I wasn't sure if this was a reasonable price for what I will be getting. I do a lot of PC gaming and plan to play games like Skyrim, Far Cry, and other recent games on medium to high graphics settings. I'm planning on ordering this laptop from xoticpc for about $1020, is it worth the price and will it do what I need it to do?

This is usually done by some seller I won't write their name. This pretty much voids the maker's warranty. I'd look for a stock unit that comes right out of the factory box when you get it rather than one some one has tinkered with.

I was thinking the same thing because I found the laptop on amazon for $940, the only thing I added to the laptop was the copper cooling upgrade.

It's some ROG model with the i7, 640 Nvidia, 1080 display and we bumped it later to 8GB RAM. Every few months we get out the canned air as everyone should.

It's about 2 years old and for stability I limited the CPU cores from 8 back to 6. Rock solid.

If you want to get a tinkered with, no maker warranty unit (that shop will deny it voids the warranty) then go right ahead but there are plenty of folk to warn you off that company. I won't be the last.

Thanks for the insight, I think I'll definitely go with the stock unit rather than get it from xoticpc. I'm sure the copper cooling isn't worth dropping my warranty for.

And just like a kid gamer he wore out the keyboard. Asus was surprisingly good at getting us a new keyboard (out of warranty). Since I'm an old hand at this (see the CNET Laptop Troubleshooting Forum Sticky) I had the new keyboard installed in about 10 minutes. It appears that this model was made to easily fix such a thing.
