Gaming laptops forum: Alienware specs?

even with those specs i will lag on the internet? i dont really intend on playing games just looing at a few not a hardcore pc gamer at all. i just want a laptop that can handle adobe products with ease and youtube and such. can anyone else help me with an alienware m17x build that can do what i want

At 17 inches I take it that this is not going to travel much?

no it will be sued for home use and when i move which wont be happening any time soon it will be used for home use at new place lol. the i7 3610qm i heard is powerful enough to do what i want but i want to hear the defeinitive answer from people who know what they are talking about so im here ^_^.

These are very nice machines. We did recently bump them all to 8GB as prices to do so became ridiculously cheap.

Even the prior gen i7 in my son's ROG gaming laptop powers through almost anything without too much lag. You are in the next gen i7 so it's that much better with less heat and hopefully will last a bit longer than the first gen units.

so based on alot of feedback and on my budget i did a little mroe tweaking on the laptop. here is the specs i have put on it right now. my question is again based on alienware,s m17x build your own site and addons which of my specs would you add/ remove in favor of for best performance on all accounts with a budget of $2200 including taxes as this system comes out to $2160 with taxes

The video card i chose was based ont eh benchmarks ive seen that say the amd is by far better but i also dont plan on gaming much other than sims 3 and games that arent too demanding so if anyone can tell me if the 660m would be enought hat could save 15+ bucks haha...

does anyone know if the 2gb gddr5 geforce gtx 660m run sims 3 smoothly? if it can then i dont need to look at any other graphics card as i wont be playing much else

You are going with 2x the RAM and more than 2x the GPU than what my wife has.
