Gaming laptops forum: What gaming laptop should I buy?

When I say durability, I mean if I fumble it on a carpet I can get away with a scratch and maybe a dent but no hardware damage. Just don't want anything uber delicate. Thanks for the reply.

it's a crap shoot if it will survive. Now if you were talking about a Panasonic Toughbook, I would say that it does that well.

But for under 1K you are looking at things you don't drop.

My laptop I got for temporary purposes is a Toshiba Satellite with a Pentium processor and it has taken a little fall. Just hoping that wasn't exceptional.

Looks nice, though I'm not completely sure about some of the standards of the system. Are there any Sager or Clevo laptops you'd recommend?

Why? It had to do with my years in Canada and they had no spare parts. If you had need of a part, there were none to be had. This was etched deep into my memory after dozens of laptops could not be repaired back then.
Maybe they got better but I can't recommend them today. I have a similar aversion to HP. Since they destroyed a laptop in their repair facility and walked out on the warranty it also means you won't see me give a nod to that company for some time to come.

Im not sure, I just asked because I heard good things about them. What about laptops with the i7?

Yes I like HP laptops too. Just something is amiss with their service it seems.

Do these things really only last 2 years only? Is that due to rough handling? What problems, specifically, are commonly taking place? What tends to be the causes of these problems?
I have a Toshiba Satellite model number P205-S6257 laptop, and I've had it for seven years or so. I know its not a gaming laptop, but it's got nice specs. Keep in mind, from my phone to my laptop, I don't drop my devices.

Problems range from keyboard to motherboard failures. Almost all can't run on battery power.

The reason why is very simple. We are packing leading edge parts in a tight package and then we have the new Pb free boards. Any flex and you know what happens to Pb free solder.

It's not a drop issue today, it's all that power in a small package. It's better with the new CPU and GPU models but we'll have to wait but as far as the battery goes, it's still the 300 cycle unit on most units.

This is what we've seen at the shop counter. Sometimes it's worse if the owner has been lax about putting the laptop on a desk or flat surface during use.

If you're OK with a high powered but shorter time period till repairs then most gaming laptops will be fine.

So if an extended warranty is available, you'd recommend it?

There are a few that source models and have no spares so the warranty is questionable.
