Gaming laptops forum: ASUS VX7 or Alienware M17x or ASUS G73??

These are nice enough machines with hot air, hot surfaces during gaming and gamers tend to get a few years before repairs are needed. While I have friends with the above or similar units the constant in gaming laptops is the heat and shorter times between repairs.

Get a long warranty as you can if you can't afford to replace it every 2 to 3 years.

I can only guess you have never been hit with a laptop repair bill.

I do not recommend any gaming laptop. These are short lived things that folk would come back to me in 2 years to complain bitterly that I advised them to get one over the other. I may give a nod but never a recommendation.

Which unit has:

1. A longer warranty?
2. The current generation CPUs?
3. Has what you want?

DURABILITY is a bust on these. I see 300 cycle batteries. That's one year? How could anyone call this DURABLE?

The prior models were so hot that I had to push back on any i7 laptop that used them. With the newer generation it's mildly under control. Even I went for it with a Samsung RC512. But gaming on that still has me back on a desktop.
