HP vs Dell Laptop Help!

I was hoping to get some sound advice on which brand to purchase? I will be buying my laptop from QVC.com, because I can make 6 payments on it.
I have no clue which brand is better. I will be using the computer for gaming, music, youtube, dvd's, videos and on top of that. This will be my mobil work station a few days a week. So, WIFI and all of that. Also, traveling on airplanes alot.

Now, with that said I want a 17" screen weather it makes since or not. I have heard a lot about HP over heating and I will be on this computer 5-8 hrs a day. I'm concerned about battery life also. Price is not an issue with the payment plan. Two have stuck out. The HP Pavillion dv7 and the Dell XPS 17.3 6GB w/ 3-d cam.

Maybe you think something different totally. Please answer on these two brands only? wink Feel free to go to QVC.com see what they have and give your opinion on the models they have.

You guys are great and I appreciate your feed back.

Gaming on a laptop is a problem as nothing made today is good enough for the gamers or lasts more than a few years.

Frankly? Get a desktop. The Alienware is nice too.
