My Garmin Asus A10 smartphone is accurate within 3-5 seconds! That's when the light goes from yellow to green
The Acer A100 has been able to connect within 30 seconds. But very often it's above 1 minute or even never.

And that's outside in the clear!

I terms of reliability I guess that the GPS unit in my Acer A100 tablet is either unreliable or broke.
I just bought the unit and wishes to return it. But before returning it, I wanted to make sure if there is a general issue with the Acer A100 GPS unit or a faulty GPS in my A100 tablet.

You will discover variations in accuracy, the speed at which it will get a lock and more. Assisted GPS is going to get even more fun as it involves some other connection to assist in the location.

It does not matter to you if the product is faulty at this point. It is not performing well enough for you. So like a bad meal, it's best to return it.

I would love to hear from people how has an Acer A100. Preferable people in Europe/Denmark or maybe not. I'd like to keep mine or get it replaced. Due to the surcumstances there aren't alot of interest in the workmanship of the Acer A100, so I have to make guesses. Due to the lack of compentition in Danmark, there aren't a lot of option. Due to the low price at which I bought the Acer A100, I will be most kind and wait for a new unit to arrieve at the retail store and then look if the GPS is any good.

I will get this sorted

The GPS is not a strong point here. http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/iconia-tab-a100 calls this an "Entertainment Champion" so the focus is not the GPS.

I see the basic GPS app needs to download a map and a quick search does not reveal if this is the Assisted GPS that will cause much of the delay you noted.
