Tablets forum: Which tablet for special conditions

So far, with a possible exception of Panasonic Toughbooks your specs are for militarized and military products. No consumer gear is rated for that use.

Thank you for your replys. From what I can see, the 7 inch Toughpad isnn't out and the 10 inch is pretty damned expensive. Assuming I don't use the tablet during the day, but instead during the cooler nights, and that I control for the humidity by keeping it in waterproof as I would in the Pacific Northwest of the US, what 7 inch tablet will allow for 1) battery swaps, 2) Micro USB for unloading photos 3) Bluetooth for keyboard use and 4) operates Chrome such that I can use gmail offline?

Do you know of a good case that would hold the tablet and keyboard?

While I do know about this stuff, ANY INCREASE IN COST in CONSUMER GEAR is usually verboten. The professional grade stuff (like Toughbooks) can do this as they can recover the costs.

A few month ago there was a video clip on You Tube that showed an unprotected iPad launched with a weather type balloon. The balloon naturally burst at high elevation and the iPad came crashing back to earth. When found they turned it on and it worked! It impressed me!

Not hardened, not waterproof, not able to swap batteries, but 7" tablet with 2) Micro USB for unloading photos 3) Bluetooth for keyboard use and 4) operates Chrome so you can use gmail offline. No Otterbox case yet, but who knows? When are you leaving? $249 web price leaves a lot of room for innvation.
