Dell Studio 1558 Won't Boot Into Windows After RAM Upgrade

I thought this would be an easy upgrade but now it's turning into a nightmare.

My laptop is a Dell Studio 1558 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I did a lot of research and found that Corsair 8 GB CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 would work well. But it's not! It will not boot into windows it just asks me if I want to repair it or start windows normally. Every time I try to start windows normally it just reboots itself. The weird thing is that the memory is recognized in BIOS (8055mb).

I'm kind of new at this so I'm not exactly sure what to do now. I tried to contact Corsair Customer support but they're only open Monday-Friday. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I was really hoping this would be an easy upgrade!

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Studio%201558&Cat=RAM makes me think that 2 * 4 GB (identical sticks) would be much better. It should work, if you didn't damage the machine when replacing the memory.

On short term, I'd go back to what worked before.

I'm having the exact same issue. Same hardware, same memory reference, same problem. I'm still looking for a solution. I'll keep you informed if I find one.

Kees_B, by the way, the CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9 reference is a set of 2 x 4 GB...
