Laptop RAM upgrade worth it?

I just bought a HP Pavillion g7-2240us laptop for $350. My old one broke to the point it was not worth fixing and this was what I could afford and think it is a good deal to get me by for now.

From what I have been told it has two slots for RAM, one with 4gig and one with 2 gig. The advertising for this computer said that it was "not able to be upgraded". I believe this is incorrect and it can accept a maximum of 8 gigs of RAM. (if this is not correct please let me know).
I have had comments that changing it from 6-8 would not make much of a difference but I have always thought the more RAM the better and it is very inexpensive.

Is the 8 gig max correct and if so is the extra 2 gigs worth it as I believe or not?

You should have a user guide on your hard drive, accessible via Start -> HP... where it should tell you. I just upgraded my laptop from 4 to 8 GB and haven't seen much difference, so I'd certainly think upgrading from 6 would make little difference. The only reason I upgraded was that I usually start about 15 tasks and occasionally would see it start paging due to fragmented memory. Back in the olden days of yore before RAM became so cheap and plentiful, you could never have enough, but that was back when 1 GB seemed like all the memory in the world. You could probably buy a 4 GB SODIMM for $20 or so, so it wouldn't be that expensive to just try it if you are so inclined.

I'll share I did this upgrade because it cost me 20 bucks. It barely made any difference but over the life of the laptop for me it's worth 20 bucks.
