my laptop blue screened and now it is unresponsive

Hello all,
Just a quick question. While on exchange in Norway my laptop harddrive broke. I then had it fixed at a local I.T service who replaced the HD with an SDD. A little over a week later I had installed a few games from Steam, nothing that was from harmful or black listed sites. I was then blue screened, I took it back to the same service centre. two weeks later they informed me that the motherboard was screwed as well and now advised me to buy a new one. My question is how likely is this new SDD was the cause or at least a significant factor involved in this?
